Rathika Ramasamy is well-known for her wildlife photography work, for which she received glorification. She has also contributed to the Clean Ganga movement, and her photos of birds are featured annually at JNU. She is a member of the Photography Art Association of India. She has also received the International Camera Fair Award for her outstanding work in the field of wildlife photography. Rathika is the first Indian woman to be recognized as a wildlife photographer on a global scale.
Rathika was born and raised in a rural village in Tamil Nadu's Theni District. She studied computer engineering and MBA and worked in the IT sector until 2003 when her hobby became a career at the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. She is very passionate about birds. She has explored almost the entire range of India's and Africa's national parks. Rathika is not only a passionate photographer but also a voice for the preservation of nature.
She has given several seminars, and right now, during the lockdown, she is giving a webinar for those who want to pursue photography as a career. She has served on the juries of several national and international photography contests. Her outstanding work has been featured in several national and foreign publications. Rathika is enamored with Indian flora and fauna. “Every time I click the shutter, it's one step closer to Mother Nature,” she says, which has held her work intact.
